We are a family run business based in West Yorkshire (full address below). We have been trading successfully online since 2003 and now employ a small team of dedicated people, but it hasn’t always been this way.....
I was working as a Receptionist in 2003 but loved doing Cross Stitch in my spare time - I found it very relaxing and loved giving the finished Cross Stitch pictures to friends and family as presents, they just felt more personal and thoughtful than ‘shop wrapped’ gifts.
However I could never find a wide range of Cross Stitch kits or threads in local shops. I was chatting to a friend over lunch and happened to mention this to her and she suggested that I set up my own shop – In 2003 my back bedroom became my mini warehouse!!!
It went well - months later...
That back bedroom soon became the front bedroom and by Christmas 2005 of running All Cross Stitch I had Cross Stitch kits in every room of the house (yes even the bathroom!) it was crazy. Luckily my husband was understanding.
The Cross Stitch kits were just taking over, boxes were 2 or 3 deep in many rooms we simply needed more space. So we converted our garage into a store room. That was able to hold a lot and served us well for a while...
However then we had a visit from the council who were unhappy about the increasing number of deliveries (fair enough) we were having a delivery almost every other day now and the daily Royal Mail collections. So we had to make the big leap and find a warehouse to rent to store these Cross Stitch kits properly and sort them so they were easy to find.
After months of searching we found The Old Stables, a converted building which became the new home for All Cross Stitch and allowed the business to continue to grow and thrive.
